Overview
Dr. Lary A. Robinson is currently the Director of the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. He has worked in the medical profession for over 35 years. As a member of the Thoracic Oncology group he evaluates and treats all stages of mesothelioma.Educational Background
Dr. Robinson began his medical career with an undergraduate program at the University of Kansas. He then went on to attend the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Robinson completed his internship at Duke University Medical Center in 1974 and then served as a Flight Surgeon for the United States Air Force. A year later he completed his Fellowship in Surgery Research followed by a residency in General and Thoracic Surgery at Duke University. Dr. Robinson then earned a Fellowship in Cardiology at St. Thomas Hospital in London and finally returned to Duke University to complete his Cardiac Surgery Fellowship in 1983.Professional Highlights
He is board certified in Surgical Critical Care and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. While serving on the Science Advisory Board of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation he also works on eight clinical cancer research programs. His research interests focus mainly on advanced lung cancer and aggressive surgical treatment of mesothelioma.Dr. Robinson's lengthy career includes working as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Pharmacology as well as the Clinical Director of the Clinical Perfusion Science Education Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was also a Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa and the principle Thoracic Surgical Oncologist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute.
